Study of the Plasticity of a Pulley Support Using the Johnson-Cook Model and ANSYS Workbench

The objective of this project is to study the mechanical behavior of a pulley support subjected to loading conditions that lead to plastic deformation. The Johnson-Cook model is used to describe the material behavior beyond its elastic limit.

Modeling and Data Setup

  • Importing the geometry and generating the mesh
  • Local mesh refinement in critical areas
  • Defining the material, particularly the parameters of the Johnson-Cook model
  • Applying boundary conditions and loading

Results and Interpretation

The Johnson-Cook model allows for simulating the plastic behavior of the material, including:

  • The displacements of the part under loading
  • The stress distribution after exceeding the elastic limit
