Optimization of a Satellite Base Using ANSYS and HyperStudy



Topological Optimization
Topological optimization helped identify key areas for adding stiffeners by visualizing regions where material could be removed without compromising stiffness or the system's modal response.
Optimized Parametric Model
A parametric model was built in ANSYS APDL to perform the optimization.
This model was then coupled with HyperStudy to refine the geometry through adjustable parameters.
Final Optimized Model
- The base plate was partially removed to reduce mass.
- Stiffeners were added in the corners of the model. The chosen layout features three branches per corner, selected after a series of optimizations. The first iteration tested a Y-shaped layout, inspired by the results of the topological optimization.
